Just like
their inability to do makeup, the Pfeffermans don't really know what to make of female friendship. No, let's be more specific: no one in this family can relate to the struggles of other women (even if they are one themselves), or see them as anything other than romantic partners. This is perhaps a part of their solipsistic nature--it's hard for them to relate to anyone, period, being the unique little snowflakes that they are--but it's particularly notable that the women of the family, self-styled or otherwise, can't see beyond their own experiences to the power of female solidarity.
