FBI arrests former aide to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul

The FBI has arrested the former deputy chief of staff to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, along with the former aide’s husband, after FBI agents searched her Long Island home earlier this year. A spokesman for the U.S. attorney’s office in Brooklyn says charges against Linda Sun and her husband, Chris Hu, remain under seal but that the pair are expected to be arraigned later Tuesday. Man killed after allegedly shooting at North Dakota officers following chase

A man who allegedly shot at police officers in North Dakota was killed when officers returned fire. The North Dakota Highway Patrol says in a news release that the man who died was 43. The patrol says the man fled when a trooper tried to pull him over around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday in Bismarck, prompting a chase by two troopers and Morton County deputies. A man is killed and an officer shot as police chase goes from Illinois to Indiana and back

A man was killed and an Indiana sheriff’s officer was wounded during an exchange of gunfire at the end of a chase in Illinois. The shooting occurred Sunday night in Sheldon. Police say Iroquois County sheriff’s officers were pursuing a man who was believed to be armed and with a hostage. Newton County Cpl. Brandon Schreiber joined the effort when the chase went into Indiana. The pursuit subsequently moved back to Illinois. The man who died was identified as Andrew Roselius. No hostage was in his vehicle.

Libyan authorities say a boat carrying Europe-bound migrants has capsized off the Libyan coast, leaving one person dead and 22 missing. The coast guard in the eastern Libyan town of Tobruk said the boat was carrying 32 migrants and that nine have been rescued. Survivors are being taken to a port in Tobruk, the coast guard said. The shipwreck was the latest sea tragedy off the North African nation which has in recent years emerged as the dominant transit point for migrants fleeing war and poverty in Africa and the Middle East.



4-year-old boy fatally shot inside a St. Louis house with no adults present

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol’s office said Tuesday that the leaders will discuss further developing two-way ties and strengthening their cooperation in regional and global issues. It said Kishida’s two-day visit starting Friday was arranged after he “actively expressed hope” to end his term with a high note in bilateral relations.
