BARCELONA fans are fighting back in the online wars after launching their own attempts to get a Liverpool player banned.
Earlier this week Liverpool supporters set up a petition calling on UEFA to punish Lionel Messi for allegedly ‘punching’ midfielder Fabinho during the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.
The petition on Change.org – named ‘Get Messi a retrospective ban for clearly punching Fabinho in the head – has amassed over 11,000 signatures so far.
The petition calls for retrospective action to be taken against Mane for an alleged ‘slap’ on Arturo Vidal.
The description by user ‘Mehrullah Baloch’ reads: “Sadio Mane should get a ban for the second leg of Semi-finals as he slapped Arturo Vidal for no reason!”
The petition has not yet been live for 24 hours but has already had over 2,000 signatures at the time of writing.
Barcelona are in the driving seat going into the second-leg of their semi-final clash at Anfield on Tuesday.
