A MUM ordered a Tesco birthday cake candle with “5” on it for her daughter — but got two with “2” and a third with a “1”.
Sheree Scanlon, 45, was at her wick’s end when a delivery man brought three candles for Charlotte because Tesco had run out of 5s.

She seethed on its Facebook page: “Absolute disbelief at the substitution from Tesco for a No5 birthday candle — 2, 2 and 1 are not quite the same.”
The Coventry teaching assistant added yesterday — Charlotte’s birthday: “It’s a ridiculous substitution. I laughed, but in absolute shock.
“I called Tesco straight away to ask if it was a computer that made the substitution as I couldn’t believe a human could think it’s a suitable alternative. But it wasn’t.
“I sent the candles back in disbelief. My friends have said a 4 and a 1 would have been cheaper. And five 1s would have made more sense.”
The fiasco over her £1 order for a Tesco Baked With Love Sparkly Candle sparked amazement in fellow Facebook users.
Lorraine Martin wrote: “It will help your child add up his/her age.”
Joanne Griffiths said: “I’m creased.”
And Laura Rees added: “Howling.”

Tesco replied to her post admitting: “That’s not a great substitute at all, so sorry about that.”
It asked her to privately send her contact details.
Sheree bought five standard candles from another store for Charlotte’s cake.
