Tottenham line up £20m Freiburg defender Robin Koch as Toby Alderweireld replacement
TOTTENHAM are looking at a £20million summer move for Freiburg defender Robin Koch.
The Germany Under-21 has inspired his side to a comfortable mid-table place in the Bundesliga.
Bild claim Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino sees 22-year-old Koch as a perfect replacement for Toby Alderweireld.
The Belgian defender, 30, is under contract until 2020, but has a £25m buyout clause written into the deal.
Manchester United are among a number of clubs willing to trigger Alderweireld’s release during the close season.
Koch has made 23 appearances for Freiburg this term, scoring once.
A bargain £3m buy from hometown club Kaiserslautern in 2017, he has since seen his value soar.
The 6ft 3in defender has won three Under-21 caps, and is close to a call-up for the senior squad.
Koch, whose surname translates as Cook, has followed in his father’s professional footsteps.
