TATI Westbrook is no longer friends with James Charles, having posted a video about the YouTube star where she openly claimed her former pal had sexually assaulted heterosexual men.
Their feud has taken social media by storm and celebrities are weighing in. Here are all the details you need to know about the situation….
What’s their subscriber count following the feud?
James has lost an astounding number of followers since Tati’s video was released on May 10, 2019.
Within four days, the New Yorker lost 3 million subscribers from his official YouTube page, showing clear signs that people were anything but supportive of James’ behavior.
Reality star Kylie Jenner was one of the first public figures to have also unfollowed James on his Twitter platform, with the likes of Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, Jeffree Star, Katy Perry, and Miley Cyrus following soon behind.
Tati, on the other hand, saw a drastic increase in her number of subscribers.
Prior to posting her controversial video, Tati’s page had 5.9 million followers and spiked to an impressive 9.6 million by May 13, 2019.
What is the drama about?
Tati and James first became pals in 2016, and it wasn’t long before their connection transitioned into a friendship which Westbrook described as an additional member to her family.
In her video, Tati makes it known that after having become close to James, he was the only person she trusted to do her wedding makeup in 2017.
Tati claims she also helped James land several business deals while also co-managing him in order to better market his brand – generating him millions in the long run.
Everything came crashing down, however, on April 22, 2019, when James decided to post an ad for Sugar Bear Hair in the midst of celebrating Coachella with friends.
Tati was furious over the move, stressing in her 43-minute explanation video that she’s never asked James for any favour – even after having helped him with a number of his businesses.
The only thing she would have wanted for him to do is NOT to post an ad for a company that is in direct competition with her supplement brand Halo Beauty.
The brunette deemed James’ actions to have been hurtful, to say the least.
Charles was quick to respond to Tati, who revealed that she felt “betrayed” and “lost” by an unnamed person on her Instagram page.
The YouTube star responded, saying: “I want to publicly apologize to my close friend, Tati. She has been like a mother to me since my first days in this industry and has given me more love, support, resources and advice than I could ever ask for”.
“This weekend I did an Instagram story for sleep vitamins that I’ve been taking because the brand helped me with security when the crowd around me at Coachella became unsafe,” he continued.
“I did not accept any money from this post”.Soon after James’ apology, many thought that the minor feud was over with and that the two were bound to make up.
That’s when beauty YouTube star Gabriel Zamora had taken to YouTube, posting a video on May 4, 2019, stressing how he felt that Tati’s characteristics came across as “fraudulent” because of the fact that she didn’t agree with James promoting another supplement company that she wasn’t associated with.
Gabriel concluded by saying that Tati is the reason why James has been getting so much hate since Coachella because she went public with something she could have handled in private.
Tati, clearly bothered by the video, didn’t appreciate the unkind words said about her, which led her to post a 43-minute video – titled “BYE SISTER”.
Tati and her husband invested a lot of time and energy building James’ platform, the beauty guru explained.
Tati went on to insist that she didn’t fall out with James over money and rather, is hurt that her so-called friend would promote another company that was a direct competitor with Halo Beauty.
In her lengthy video, she said: “My relationship with James Charles is not transactional. I have not asked him for a penny. I have never been on his Instagram”.

Tati then made a shocking confession, claiming that James’ behavior has been out of control for a while and that she had simply grown tired of defending his bad behavior.
“My relationship with James Charles is not transactional. I have not asked him for a penny. I have never been on his Instagram”.Tati adds that James is no stranger when it comes to talking badly about other influencers while allegedly having also sexually harassed heterosexual men.
When she questioned him about it, he reasoned his actions telling Tati that he was a celebrity, giving the impression that he felt superior because of his fame and wealth.
Within two days, over 30 million people had watched Tati’s video and that’s when things turned sour for James, who began to turn against the makeup mogul.
Given the severity of the accusations and amount of attention surrounding his friend’s video, James responded with a message of his own.
Posting an 8-minute clip on his official page titled “tati,” he apologised for his actions – not just to Tati, but to the people he’s hurt on social media in the past.
In the end, he begins shedding tears when discussing his mother’s ongoing support for him while dealing with the aftermath of Tati’s controversial YouTube video.
Following the release of his video, James has completely disappeared from social media and YouTube.
DailyMail reveals that the makeup guru has apparently gone into hiding and it’s not clear what his plans are to try and make things right.
Tati told her Twitter followers on May 12, 2019, she had scrapped plans to release a new video – unrelated to the scandal – because the situation had quite literally taken a lot of energy out of her.
She tweeted: “There won’t be a video tomorrow. My heart is still too heavy. I feel like I need to remind you that we can hold truth & inspire change without grabbing onto hate. Honor your blessings, don’t abuse them. Celebrating pain will only bring it to your door. love you guys, see you soon”.
What is their net worth?
Tati’s net worth remains unknown, but there’d be no denying that she’s doing rather well for herself.
From YouTube, it’s believed that she makes anywhere from $1.3 million a year from ad-related revenue on her videos.
That’s not including any sponsorship deals she could have in place simultaneously on either YouTube or any other of her social media platforms.
She generates 30-35 million views per month on average – a number she’s already exceeded with the release of “BYE SISTER” (40m in 4 days).
And, of course, she runs a successful supplement company called Halo Beauty, which she claims helps promote healthy hair, skin, and nails.
Halo Beauty’s Instagram page alone boasts of more than 500,000 followers, so it’s fair to assume that business is running well for the brunette.
Meanwhile, James is worth a reported $12 million.
The New York native launched his own merch line Sisters Apparel, sweat pants, accessories, and shirts all emblazoned with his famous saying “Sisters”.
James is also the owner of his very own makeup palette and brush kit, which he started with one of the biggest brands – Morphe.
His net worth, according to Seventeen, was last valued prior to the launch of his own makeup line, meaning that he could very well be looking at a net worth upwards of $24 MILLION.
Cosmopolitan claims that James earns close to $10,000 per sponsored post on his social media platforms.
