Weather casts pall on 2017

The Toledo Blade 

As October is nearly done-for and 2017 slouches glumly toward Christmas and the year's end, we cast a weary eye back over the calendar and conclude that 2017 has been a bummer. Brexit in Europe, and Trump versus North Korea, and the now-usual gun-maniac massacres in America, which we will not dwell on today. What all of us can agree, however, is that 2017 has been the Year of Natural Disaster.

Melvin Harsh (1944-2017)

The Toledo Blade 

Melvin Harsh, who spent decades playing in the Toledo Symphony Orchestra and devoted his life to classical music, died Oct. 8 in the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg Township. He was 73.
