After almost a year of not filling the city’s animal control officer position, Perrysburg Police Chief Patrick Jones still believes the vacancy can continue, as police officers work with the county dog warden to fulfill the responsibilities once carried out by the former role.

The Port of Cleveland saw demand double in the past eight years after it installed container offloading capabilities. The Port of Monroe believes it is the future of cargo and is constructing a container port now, in hopes of starting to unload container ships by 2023.

Robert Dane Wright (1923-2021)

Robert D. Wright, a pilot who was a radar operator aboard Army Air Corps combat missions over the Pacific in World War II and, as a civilian, flew experimental planes and taught would-be pilots, died Oct. 7 at Browning Masonic Complex in Waterville. He was 97.
