COLUMBUS – As long as lawmakers are returning to town on Wednesday to consider overriding his veto of a bill affecting transgender minors, Gov. Mike DeWine says they should act to plug a hole in state law that has led to sales of an intoxicating hemp product that poses a danger to kids.

What started out as a sedate meeting of the Glenwood Mother’s Club of Rossford turned into a mad scramble for treats when Blade photographer Jack Ackerman decided the story needed an action shot. The mothers lined up seven plates of cookies on the gym floor and gave fifth-graders the option of giving up their game of grab the bacon for a race for the goodies. The kids were game, dropping the bacon, and an eraser, on the floor to make a mad dash for their favorite sweet.
