The two main candidates for the Republican nomination for the U.S. 9th District House Seat are Craig Riedel and Derek Merrin. Both are solid conservatives who support former President Donald Trump. Their positions on all the hot issues are virtually the same. There is a major difference in character and leadership ability.
State Rep. Haraz Ghanbari is a puzzling candidate in a hotly contested primary with more than a half million dollars of TV advertising and direct-mail spent on an ultra-high profile election that will do much to determine leadership of the Ohio House of Representatives. Mr. Ghanbari’s inaccessibility is a factor Wood County voters should hold against him at the ballot box.
Since endorsing Sally Culling for state representative, I’ve been heartened by the outpouring of support from across Wood County. Yet, some constituents have asked why I’m not backing the incumbent, Haraz Ghanbari. I’d like to explain.
Ohio should avoid getting sucked down into the mire of baseless conspiracy theories and retribution rhetoric associated with former President Donald Trump and elect Republicans who believe in responsible governance.
