Everybody laughed after Laviska Shenault was the beneficiary of an insanely lucky play

0

Let’s call Laviska Shenault’s touchdown what it was: dumb luck.

The Jacksonville Jaguars receiver found himself in the end zone with the ball thanks to a wild tipped pass in the first half against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 13.

Quarterback Mike Glennon threw an awful pass that appeared to be intended for receiver D. J. Chark. But it was so off-target that it skipped off the arm of Vikings cornerback Kris Boyd before zooming directly to Shenault for a touchdown.

Boyd was so intent on covering Chark that he never realized the ball was coming and raised his hands at the last second. That’s how inaccurate the throw was.

The luckiest person on the play might have actually been Glennon, who basically threw a surefire interception — only to see that he’d somehow gotten a six-point play instead. Here’s a look.

This slow-motion version helps establish the absurdity of the play.

People couldn’t believe what happened.

To be clear, the Jaguars are not an example of why it’s better to be lucky than good. Not at all.
