Obama's Weaponization of Government

Forbes.com (most-popular)

When you analyze the public response to the State of the Union and the latest polling data, it’s clear that the President has lost a tremendous amount of credibility with the American public.  I scarcely think he cares at this point.  A tired, graying Barack Obama stood before Congress this [...]

Flashback Friday: When eating nuts and having sex don't mix.

Discovermagazine.com

There are several medical case studies that we've covered  that are so over-the-top-crazy that there is always at least one commenter who insists that, even though the story is published in a peer-reviewed journal,  it has to be an urban legend (this one and this one are good examples). This is another such case study. It features a woman who is allergic to Brazil nuts, and a man who ate some and then slept with her. We'll let you read the rest to find out where the Brazil nut allergens ende

Wintercreepers fall off hot list, but still shine

«SFGate» (sfgate.com)

There was a period when these sturdy, hardworking shrubs were very much in the public eye. First off, they offer another attractive, evergreen shrub to consider adding to your garden. Popular choices include the green-and-white 'Emerald Gaiety,' the lovely tricolor 'Emerald 'n' Gold' and the cheerful gold-and-green 'Sunrise.' The 2-inch oval leaves are shiny, and though the flowers are inconspicuous, mature plants may produce ornamental seed capsules. The straight species of Euonymus fortunei acts as more of a climber... Reductive art exhibition is expansive for mind

«SFGate» (sfgate.com)

To create his ethereal "Remnant" chair, for example, Seattle-based artist Drew Daley spent 300 hours hand-sanding an oak seat until it became a ghost of itself. The artists use different types of media, ranging from paper to soot, and varying unplugged approaches, but their works all reveal complex imagery created by concentrated detail. But it's true that some tasks (such as child care) require more effort and emotion than others (washing dishes, for example). But we don't often think about these things, especially when divvying up tasks. It's easy to make a chart that ensures that everyone is doing the same number of chores. But less simple is quantifying the stress those tasks bring.
