Ten people were injured and sent to hospitals when a homemade bomb detonated in a supermarket in St. Petersburg, Russia, officials said Wednesday. "According to preliminary information, an explosion of an unidentified object occurred in a store," Investigative Committee spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko said in a statement. TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey's black bear population isn't nearly as visible as it used to be. The Department of Environmental Protection says sightings of the state's largest land mammal tailed off dramatically in 2017. The Asbury Park Press reports only 216 sightings were reported, compared to 722 last year and an average of 852 in the seven previous years. Film critics groups around the country have spoken out about the best movies of 2017, and the verdict is that they can’t really agree. A full 11 different films have been named the year’s best by the more than two dozen national and regional critics groups that have announced their awards by late December, with five of them being awarded by multiple groups. ALMYRA, Arkansas (AP) — Law enforcement officials in southeastern Arkansas say a couple found dead in their car Christmas Eve may have died from carbon monoxide poisoning while waiting for floodwaters to recede. A witness reported seeing the car driven by the couple, identified as Timothy Lane and Mary Manues, attempt to travel along a flooded road on Friday.
