In 1997, Paul Guenther became head coach at his alma mater of Ursinus College in Pennsylvania.
For his first recruiting trip, Guenther, now the Raiders’ defensive coordinator, recalled Wednesday how he planned to visit five nearby high schools in one day. His first stop was the Haverford School. Guenther arrived at about 6:30 a.m. - and spent hours there as the school’s football coach listed local players he should visit.
“And then he says, ‘You should really meet my son,’” Guenther said.
