Food, Water, Gas Supplies Flow Into Isolated Puerto Rico Islands

Trucks laden with food, water and gasoline began arriving Wednesday on the tiny Puerto Rican islands of Vieques and Culebra after the governor activated the National Guard due to a breakdown of two ferries that carry supplies. Lt. Col. Paul Dahlen told The Associated Press the National Guard is using two landing craft to bring trucks carrying supplies to the islands, which are located roughly 20 miles east of Puerto Rico. Authorities: Man who killed father kills himself in prison

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Authorities say a man convicted of shooting to death his father killed himself in a Lincoln prison. The Nebraska Correctional Services Department says 46-year-old Steven Braesch died Tuesday at a Lincoln hospital. Prison staffers began CPR after Braesch was found unresponsive in his cell. Safety agency investigating crash that killed officer

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration says it is investigating the circumstances of a crash that killed a Chattanooga police officer. The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports agency spokesman Chris Cannon confirmed the investigation and said it was the first such probe involving police department in more than five years.
