Yankees' winning streak hits seven

Austin Romine and Cameron Maybin each drove in two in New York's five-run second inning, and the Yankees held on to beat the Kansas City Royals 6-5 Saturday night, completing a sweep of a doubleheader for their seventh straight win.

Romine finished with three hits and Maybin also had an RBI single in the third as New York won both games after severe thunderstorms postponed Friday night's contest.

A’s Fernando Rodney designated for assignment; Wei-Chung Wang called up

Fernando Rodney, at 42 the oldest player in the majors, was designated for assignment by the Oakland A’s on Saturday. Oakland exercised Rodney’s $4.25 million option in October after he made 68 appearances for the Twins and A’s, posting a 3.36 ERA. But he fell out of favor this year and lost his role as a setup man.
