DU directs colleges to carry out forensic examination of documents furnished by students

The Delhi University has directed all colleges of the varsity to carry out forensic analysis of documents submitted by students during the time of admission in order to avoid a case like that of former DUSU president Ankiv Baisoya who allegedly submitted fake marksheets. Smriti Irani offers prayers at Kamakhya temple

Union Minister and newly elected BJP MP from Amethi Lok Sabha constituency, Smriti Irani Tuesday visited the Kamakhya Temple here and offered prayers. Irani who defeated Congress president Rahul Gandhi in Amethi, arrived here from Mumbai and drove straight to the Nilachal Hills, the abode of Goddess Kamakhya and the seat of Shakti cult and offered prayers, a party spokesperson said. She also visited the Bogala Temple further up the hill and also offered prayers. Irani did not speak to waiting mediapersons at the temple.

19 Bangladeshi nationals held for staying without documents

Nineteen Bangladeshi nationals were arrested Tuesday at Tirupur for allegedly staying without valid documents and claiming they were from West Bengal, police said. On information that many Bangladeshis were working in knitwear units in and around Tirpur, police raided a company at Sirupuluvapatti. They had come from Bangladesh without proper documents and joined the firm claiming that they hailed from West Bengal, police said. Seeing the police a few other Bangladeshi nationals fled from the area, they added.

Max Financial net profit down 30 pc to Rs 391 cr in FY19

Max Financial Services (MFS) Tuesday reported a 30 per cent fall in consolidated net profit to Rs 391 crore for 2018-19. The net profit was lower compared to the previous year, largely due to one-time expenses for pursuing an inorganic opportunity for Max Life and reversible fair valuation impact as per the recently adopted accounting methodology IndAS, it said in a release. The company's consolidated revenue, which has a majority stake in Max Life Insurance, grew 17 per cent to Rs 17,538 crore as compared to the year-ago period, it said. Читать дальше...



TN CM offers prayers at Lord Venkateswara temple

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami Tuesday offered prayers at the famous Lord Venkateswara near here. He took part in the Astadala Paadapadmaradhana ritual conducted for the presiding deity inside the sanctum sanctorum this morning, a temple official told PTI. Palaniswami was accompanied by his wife and other family members. After offering prayers, he was honoured with a sacred silk cloth and prasadam by the temple management. He later left for Chennai. Security was tightened in view of Palaniswami's visit.
