A defamation case has been filed against former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh for his statements against BJP and Bajrang Dal recently. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Samar Vishal has put up the matter for consideration on October 9. The plea filed by BJP member and lawyer Rajesh Kumar said that Singh had committed a "grave offence" causing injury to the BJP, its leaders and public at large by his allegedly defamatory statements.

NCLAT orders review of McDonald's-Vikram Bakshi settlement

The NCLAT on Wednesday said it will review the settlement between food major McDonald's and its estranged Indian partner Vikram Bakshi over sale of his shares in Connaught Plaza Restaurants Ltd. The appellate tribunal said the settlement reached between McDonald's and Vikram Bakshi was "prima facie" violation of Debt Recovery Tribunal order and it "would not given effect to". Govt doctor held while taking bribe to operate on patient

A doctor, posted in a government hospital in Madhya Pradesh's Mandla district, was allegedly caught on Wednesday while accepting bribe to perform a surgery, the Lokayukta police said on Wednesday. Dr Sunil Kumar Yadav was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000 at his private clinic, said J P Verma, deputy superintendent, Lokayukta Police. Two people were arrested over distribution of food in thermocol plates inside a hospital, officials said on Wednesday. A penalty of Rs 1.50 lakhs was also slapped on a sweets shop for using banned polythene bags, a Noida administration official said. During an inspection at the district hospital in Sector 30, it was found that food was being served in thermocol plates, in violation of the law banning plastic, the official said.
