Stocks opened slightly lower Wednesday, taking a breather after four straight days of gains for the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500. The Dow was down around 20 points, or 0.1%, near 34,274, while the S&P 500 lost 0.2% to trade near 4,622. The Nasdaq Composite fell 0.4% to 14,564. The S&P 500 on Wednesday exited correction territory --- defined as a fall of 10% but less than 20% from a recent peak --- as it finished more than 10% above its March 8 correction low.

Wind and solar produced 10 percent of the world's electricity for the first time in 2021 while clean sources accounted for 38 percent of the total power supply, an analysis said on Wednesday. Overall, the share of wind and solar has doubled since 2015. Ten countries generated more than 25 percent of their electricity from wind and solar last year, led by Denmark at 52 percent.
