Centre pushes quality control on copper, nickel, and aluminium ahead by six months
The government has postponed the enforcement of quality control orders (QCO) on nickel, copper, and aluminium by six months, shifting the start date from December 1, 2023, to June 1, 2024. These orders aim to prevent substandard import and sale of products. Industries cited pending BIS certification, expecting disruptions in supply during the initial QC implementation. Aluminium, Nickel, and Copper standards, although existing, are now being made mandatory.
