The Nation's Weather
The Nation's Weather for Saturday, July 8, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
While much of the East will remain hot and humid today, a
few thunderstorms are forecast to erupt near and just to the
east of the Appalachians. As a storm system moves along,
thunderstorms packing heavy rain and gusty winds will
advance across the southern Plains and Midwest. Localized
flooding can occur where downpours persist. This same system
is expected to bring heavy rain and the risk of flooding to
parts of the Northeast on Sunday and Sunday night. A batch
of cooler and less humid air will expand over the North
Central states. However, smoky conditions may accompany the
cooler conditions. Aside from a few storms over the northern
High Plains and Snake River basin, much of the West will be
dry and sunny. Even though heat may lessen today, it is
expected to build significantly over the interior next week.
