The Nation's Weather for Friday, July 21, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
As a potent storm system travels along the Canada border
today, areas of torrential downpours with localized flash
flooding will occur in the Northeast. An added concern will
be severe thunderstorms capable of producing high winds,
hail and perhaps a few tornadoes. More downpours and locally
severe storms will extend from the middle Mississippi Valley
to the Southeast states. Some of the storms will trigger
flash flooding and high winds. More storms are likely to
erupt along the eastern slopes of the Rockies in Colorado,
New Mexico and Wyoming. Cooler and less humid air is
forecast to expand from the northern Plains to the Great
Lakes region. Extreme heat will continue to sear much of the
Southwest under blazing sunshine. The air will be hot over
the Northwest but not as extreme as farther south.
