England breezed through qualifying unbeaten with six wins and two draws, scoring 22 goals and conceding just four – including an impressive double over holders Italy.

The Three Lions are clearly knocking at the door having reached a semi-final, a final and a quarter-final during Gareth Southgate’s tenure, which could come to an end after this competition.

And Betfair sense he could go out with a bang having priced England at 7/2 to win their first major trophy since 1966 by lifting the silverware at Berlin’s Olympiastadion on Sunday 14 July 2024.

England will learn their group-stage opponents in Saturday’s draw.

The toughest possible draw, according to the rankings, for England would be Denmark (19th), Netherlands (6th), Italy (9th). The simplest would comprise of Albania (62nd), Slovenia (54th) and Kazakhstan (100th).

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “England and France are the 7/2 joint-favourites to win Euro 2024 with the group stage draw taking place in Hamburg on Saturday.

“Other contenders to go all the way next summer are Germany at 7/1 and Spain, who are 15/2, while Cristiano Ronaldo is 8/1 to lead Portugal to Euro 2024 glory in what could be his last major international tournament.”

As mentioned, France are also 7/2 favourites to add to their stacked trophy cabinet in Germany next year.

Kylian Mbappe has been named the new French captain by Didier Deschamps, and it’s working well with the nation having won seven of their eight qualifiers, conceding just three times.

Germany – who will host the tournament – were previously favourites and are still in the mix at 7/1 with Julian Nagelsmann now in charge of the national team.

Spain and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal follow next at 15/2 and 8/1 respectively, ahead of Italy, Netherlands and Belgium, who are all locked together at 14/1.
