According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur will reject any loan proposals for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the upcoming January transfer window, despite continued speculation linking the player with a move away from the club.
Hojbjerg has found himself taking on more of a peripheral role in the Spurs squad under Ange Postecoglou this season, which is a far cry from his status as a first-team regular under previous managers.
The pairing of Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr has been the preferred pairing in the middle of the park for Postecoglou, with Hojbjerg having to settle for substitute appearances by and large.
The Dane has been linked with the likes of Juventus (CalcioMercato), Fulham (90Min), and Ajax (SoccerNews) in recent weeks.
Of course, Spurs are in the midst of something of an injury crisis right now, with the likes of Sarr, James Maddison, and Rodrigo Bentancur all facing time on the sidelines.
Will Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg stay at Spurs?
That has opened the door for Hojberg again, and according to Romano, Spurs will be looking to keep hold of the 28-year-old come January.
He tweeted: “Despite links with Juventus and Ajax, Tottenham are currently not open to letting Pierre Emile Højbjerg leave on loan in January. Spurs already rejected loan proposal from Atléti on summer Deadline Day and stance remains the same — no loan.”

There is, however, no mention as to whether Spurs would allow the midfielder to leave if an offer for a permanent transfer was made.

I suspect what this means is, we need Hojbjerg to cover for injuries and will not just allow him to leave temporarily. However, if we were able to raise some funds by selling him, thus leading to a replacement being signed in January, there is a chance that deal would be considered.
