Kim Kardashian’s trainer says sleeping later and working out less help you lose weight, and shares booty-building tips

TRAINER-TO-THE-STARS Gunnar Peterson insists that there’s no need to get up at dawn to get your workouts in.

The fitness guru — whose clients include Kim Kardashian — said sleeping later and working out less can actually help you lose weight.

With a few weeks left until the New Year, Peterson said it’s possible to lose weight before the clock strikes 12 on January 1.

Peterson — who has trained Kardashian, 43, since she was 19 years old — told The U.S. Sun that people need to stay consistent.

“Stay on your plan, stay on your program, and if you fall into the very understandable holiday party circuit, just stay on your game with your workouts,” he said at the NY Fitness Festival in November.

It’s also important to get enough sleep — so setting a 4 am alarm to get in your pre-work sweat session may not be as great as you think.

“If there’s a way to come in a little bit later at work, do the first hour at home, leave a little bit early, get some sleep, that’s going to be where you really cover some new ground,” he said.

In fact, Peterson insisted it might be better to sleep in and shorten your cardio session than trudge through extra treadmill time.

“Sometimes you may be better off getting the extra hour of sleep and doing a shorter, higher intensity workout,” he told The U.S. Sun.

“Plus the other upside is you can’t eat more when you’re sleeping,” he added.

As far as exercise is concerned, Peterson likes to mix cardio with strength training.

He said to do five minutes of cardio, then strength training; another five minutes of cardio, and then two more strength training exercises.

And he added that you don’t need a lot of equipment: You can do cardio exercises like pushups, jumping jacks, and hip thrusters in your home.

If you don’t have any weights, he suggested that PowerBlock dumbbells would be a good early Christmas present.

When it comes to toning the butt, Peterson said it’s imperative to lift weights.

He said you should do deadlifts, squats, lunges, and “explosive work” like plyo jumps or running on a SandDune Stepper.

Peterson doesn’t think there is any particular diet that is better or worse, but you shouldn’t skip around.

“It’s the diet hoppers that are going to end up with the problem,” he said. “If you’re keto for a few days and then you switch to vegan … just pick one thing.”

“So many of them actually work If you stick to them, there are very few that don’t yield some result,” he said.

Peterson’s tip is to pick a diet you can stick to all the time. If the regiment is too strict, you’re setting yourself up to fail, he said.

The trainer has five lifestyle rules he lives by.

It’s important to get enough sleep, stay hydrated, lift weights, elevate your heart rate, and eat enough protein.
