Everyone says my ‘inappropriate’ wedding guest dress is ‘too short and clingy,’ some even say I look like an ‘elf’
A WEDDING guest has been warned that her choice of dress is inappropriate attire for a formal ceremony.
She shared a snap of the figure-hugging sparkly green dress as she asked for opinions on the style.

She explained on Reddit that she’s been invited to a wedding that has a cocktail dress code and is set to take place on December 30th.
She didn’t reveal where she bought the dress as she shared a photo of it on the brand’s website.
However, a reverse Google image search reveals it costs $42.99 from Amazon’s Mxrag store and has a 3.9-star rating from customers.
The wedding guest wrote: “I was leaning towards sparkly since it’s right before NYE and the bride said she encouraged sparkles/rhinestones.
“This is my first cocktail attire wedding so I’m not too sure if this is appropriate. TIA! [thanks in advance].”
Speaking about the bride, she added: “She said she wants people to be dressed up.
“One of the nicest women ever so I’m sure she’s not going to pick apart anyone’s dress, but I am mostly worried about blending in with everyone else.”
Responses to the thread were quick to argue that the sparkly green dress looked “inappropriate” for the dress code stated.
Many claimed it was “too short” and made comments about the fabric being “pretty low quality.”
One person wrote: “This is too short and not too elegant. This is more like a clubbing dress.
“Cocktail means at the knee or below.”
Agreeing, another quipped: “It’s pretty short. A cocktail dress aims for elegance and is usually midi length or knee length.”
A third said: “I like the color, but it’s entirely too short and clingy for Cocktail.”
A fourth chimed in: “It’s not a cocktail dress, more of a club dress.
“However, if this dress code is just to make sure people don’t wear jeans and a T-shirt, I think it’s fine. So, it really depends on what the bride means by Cocktail.”
Another added: “The neckline and long sleeves are nice.
“Yes, it’s short but my main issue is the color and sparkles make it look a bit costumey (Xmas elf, etc.). I’d go for something longer in a different shade.”
The woman admitted she hadn’t thought about the fact that her choice of dress could look like a festive costume.
“I liked that it was a ‘winter’ color but I didn’t consider that, thank you,” she replied.
