Asif Durrani’s meeting with US Deputy Secretary of State on Afghan migrants
Amid the growing deportation of Afghan citizens from Pakistan, Asif Durrani, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, met with a US official responsible for refugee and migration affairs.
On Tuesday, Asif Durrani reported on his meeting with Julieta Valls Noyes Juliette Wells Noyes, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, and Donald Blome, the United States Ambassador to Pakistan, on his Twitter page.
Mr Durrani has added that during this meeting, discussions and conversations regarding the situation of Afghan migrants took place.
It should be noted that Mr. Durrani has not provided further information about this meeting.
This meeting is taking place as the interim government of Pakistan has recently implemented a plan to expel Afghan citizens.
However, statistics from the Ministry of Migrants show that the Pakistani government forcibly deports more than a thousand Afghan citizens daily from the country.
This comes in the wake of forced deportations of Afghan citizens, which have sparked national and international reactions. However, the Pakistani government has repeatedly stated that no country accepts undocumented migrants.
