Rays re-sign Chris Devenski to 1 year deal with club option
Veteran reliever Chris Devenski is returning to the Tampa Bay Rays on a one-year deal with a club option, first reported by ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
Devenski gets $1M from #Rays in 2024, with some incentives and escalators, then $2M for 2025 if option is picked up or $100 buyout. Also has incentives in 2025

After five years with the Astros and 1 with the Diamondbacks, Devenski signed one-year deals with the Angels in 2022 and 2023. After appearing in 29 games with a 5.08 ERA for Los Angeles last year, he was released upon his return from a hamstring injury on August 29th and subsequently signed with the Rays on a major league deal.
In his nine regular season games with Tampa Bay, Devenski improved his results to a 2.08 ERA, finishing five game for the playoff bound Rays. After joining the Rays, the team encouraged Devenski to keep his changeup his primary pitch, and emphasized a sweeper over his slider.
Devenski pitched 2.0 innings in the team’s 4-0 loss to the eventual World Series winning Texas Rangers in Game 1 of the 2023 Wild Card series, allowing just one hit over seven batters faced in relief of Tyler Glasnow.
Entering his age-33 season, it will be interesting to see what Kyle Snyder and co. can do to further enhance his profile.
