Pete Wicks slams Sam Thompson’s I’m A Celeb ‘bromances’ and insists friendship with Marvin Humes ‘won’t last’
PETE Wicks has taken a cheeky swipe at best friend Sam Thompson’s I’m A Celeb friendship with Marvin Humes.
The ex-Towie star, 35, has jetted all the way to Australia to be there for Sam when he leaves the jungle, joining the other campmates loved ones.
Pete, who presents a podcast with the ex-Made in Chelsea star, said he is not threatened by Sam’s new bromance with the JLS star and declared “it won’t last”.
Speaking to Closer, Pete said: “I absolutely love Marvin, I think he’s wonderful.
“But what you’re seeing is what I can only describe as a holiday romance. It won’t last.
“When things come back to reality, Sam knows where his bread is buttered.
“He’ll realise that there is only one man in his life, and that’s me.”
Pete has since been pictured out and about with the other celebrities loved ones while Down Under.
It comes after Pete refused to give up his spot on the I’m A Celeb bridge to best pal Sam Thompson’s girlfriend Zara McDermott – after she was axed from Strictly.
Zara’s early exit from the BBC ballroom competition meant she was able available to fly to Australia should Sam, 31, be voted out of the jungle series.
But Zara admitted that she was busy filming for a documentary and rehearsing for a special finale appearance on Strictly.
But ex-Towie star Pete, who appeared on ITV’s Lorraine last week to discuss Sam’s progress in I’m A Celeb, has confirmed Sam put him forward for the honour of greeting him in the jungle when he leaves camp, and he’s sticking to the original plan.
He told Lorraine Kelly: “Zara could have gone but we obviously thought Zara was still going to be in Strictly.
“Obviously now she could have gone, but I won’t give up my place. Listen, first come, first served.”
Former Towie star Pete and Sam have been close pals since meeting on Celebs Go Dating in 2018 and even present podcast Staying Relevant together.
Their bromance has been well documented on Instagram and Pete and Zara, who has been dating Sam since 2019, have been cheering on the Made In Chelsea star together.
Pete admitted to Lorraine: “I really miss him.
“I didn’t think I would, because he really annoys me, but what I’ve realised is that I do need that in my life and he’s my brother and I do miss him.”
He continued his sweet tribute, saying: “The thing is with Sam when you first meet him, I always say he’s a grower not a shower.
“Eventually, you learn to love him. At the beginning, it’s quite annoying.
“But that’s part of his personality and that’s part of who he is because he just wants everyone to like him and he just wants everyone to smile so he tries really hard and actually if he was more himself, then people would love him anyway because he’s just the best guy.”
