Report: Spurs one of several clubs watching Ligue 1 pair
TEAMtalk have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur and a number of other Premier League clubs are closely watching the progress of Lille duo Leny Yoro and Tiago Santos.
Lille have emerged as one of the best young sides in Ligue 1 under Paulo Fonseca and much of their improvement is down to their solid backline, who have conceded just 11 goals so far this season.
The performances of centre-back Yoro and right-back Santos have been responsible for that, with the former looking extremely solid and composed despite being just 18 years of age.
The 6ft 3in defender has also impressed in the Europa Conference League this season and is now thought to be on the radar of several English sides ahead of the January window.
Meanwhile, Santos has also emerged as one of the most exciting right-backs in French football, with the Portugal Under-21 international said to have earned rave reviews from Premier League scouts.
Apart from Spurs, the duo are also said to also being watched closely by Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and West Ham United.
The report claims that the abovementioned clubs view Yoro slightly more favourably than Santos and with the centre-back having just 18 months left to run on his contract, he could be the subject of plenty of approaches in January.
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham have evidently shifted their recruitment model since Ange Postecoglou arrived through the door, with the North London club actively looking at the best young talent in Europe rather than readymade players. So, one would ask Spurs to reach out to Lille and keep abreast of the developments over Yorro’s and Santos’ futures.
