The Chabad Jewish Center of Novato will hold a menorah lighting to kick off Hanukkah on Sunday.
The event begins at 5 p.m. at City Hall, 901 Sherman Ave. Doughnuts and hot latkas will be served. Crafts and games for children are planned. Gelt will be dropped from a fire truck.

Bookseller hosts
charity drive
Copperfield’s Books is holding a book drive benefiting the Book Exchange.
Children’s books purchased at the store will be donated to the 35-year-old nonprofit, which aims to provide books to underserved communities.
The holiday book drive runs through Dec. 25. Copperfield’s is located at 1200 Fourth St.
Santa Cop program
seeks toy donations
San Rafael police and firefighters are hosting the city’s annual Santa Cop toy drive through Jan. 2
Toy donations may be dropped at city fire stations. Fire stations are located at 1375 Fifth Ave.; 52 Union St.; 955 Point San Pedro Road; 650 Del Ganado Road and 3530 Civic Center Drive.

Due date nears
for property taxes
The first installment of county property taxes are due at 5 p.m. Dec. 11.
Payments may be made online at marincounty.org/taxbillonline or by phone at 800-985-7277. Exemption forms can be found at marincounty.org/propertytaxexemptions.
To apply for a postponement with the state Controller’s Office, call 800-952-5661. Applications will be accepted through Feb. 12, 2024.
