Firefighter injured battling blaze in East Hartford
A firefighter was injured battling a fire in East Hartford Wednesday that killed a dog and two cats.
A firefighter was injured battling a house fire in East Hartford on Wednesday.
Firefighters responded to a two-story home in the area of Elmer Street at 12:15 p.m. and activated a second alarm shortly after arrival when they received a mayday call from a firefighter who had gone “down,” according to the East Hartford Fire Department.
Fire officials said the firefighter was removed from the home and taken to an area hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.
No other injuries were reported, though fire officials said a dog and two cats died in the blaze.
Mutual aid was provided by the New Britain and West Hartford Fire Departments, according to fire officials.
The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire.
