Yahya Sinwar, head of the Palestinian militant group in Gaza has been listed by Tel Aviv as one of its most wanted. Believed to be the mastermind behind the October 7 attacks, Sinwar was born in 1962 in Khan Younis in Southern Gaza. After joining Hamas in the 80s, Sinwar climbed the ranks to become its leader in the Strip. Convicted in 1989 for murdering Israelis and Palestinian collaborators, Sinwar stayed behind bars for 22 years until his release in 2011 in a Israel-Hamas prisoner exchange.
