Scattered showers Thursday could add small amounts to Bay Area rain totals

0

Remnants of a wet Wednesday were expected to linger in the Bay Area on Thursday in the form of scattered showers, according to the National Weather Service.

A weakening cold front coming from the Pacific Northwest was predicted to linger in the region until the early evening. Those showers, which bring quick bouts of light rainfall, weren’t expected to bring more than a fraction of an inch of precipitation, the NWS said.

While that front won’t bring an extraordinary amount of rain, temperatures dipping into the high 30s could be a possibility overnight into Friday. Overnight low forecasts included 39 degrees in San Jose and Concord, 37 in Livermore and 44 in San Francisco.

Colder temperatures could hit the North Bay, as the NWS issued a frost warning in parts of Marin and Napa Counties. The NWS warned residents that the cold could be hazardous to the unsheltered population.

According to the NWS, rain totals for Wednesday came in under .2 inches in most inland, low elevation area. Totals included .19 in San Francisco, .11 at San Francisco International Airport, .04 in San Jose and .12 in Oakland.
