Dispute between 2 drivers, shots fired, result in street closures in North Portland: PPB
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A dispute between two drivers prompted a heavy police presence and road closures in North Portland early Friday afternoon, according to Portland police.
Just before 11:30 a.m., at North Lombard Street and North Hurst Avenue, witnesses reported shots fired by one or both of the drivers. Authorities say they proceeded to chase each other in their vehicles, until eventually crashing near Northeast Rosa Parks Way and Northeast Cleveland Avenue.
One driver was taken into custody and to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the other has not yet been apprehended, authorities say.
PPB also stated that another innocent driver was involved in the crash, but sustained no injuries.
More than a half dozen shell casings were located at the original scene, authorities say.
North Lombard is expected to be closed in both directions between Chataqua Boulevard and Foss Avenue for the next few hours for the duration of the investigation.
