Man arrested in connection with year-long home burglary spree in Porter Ranch, Granada Hills

A 21-year-old man was arrested by Los Angeles police this week on suspicion of being one in a group of men who burglarized multiple homes in Porter Ranch and Granada Hills, authorities said.

The two areas of the San Fernando Valley have been plagued by residential burglaries since January, police said.

The suspect was arrested about 11 p.m. Thursday and booked into jail. He was being held on $1 million bail, police said.

Two or three suspects force entry into homes through the backyard and target jewelry, watches, purses and money, police said. At least one other suspect stays in a getaway vehicle and at times, a driver in a second vehicle acts as a lookout.

Police said surveillance video was a key component to piecing the crimes together and helped solidify a case against the suspect.

Whether the video helped police identify the suspect was not specified, but they believe he may have been responsible for additional burglaries.
