The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced that $9.3 billion is needed in 2024 to assist vulnerable children around the world.
On Wednesday, UNICEF published a report stating that this amount of money is needed next year to help 24 million children.
According to UNICEF, climate change, earthquakes, the outbreak of diseases, and the increase in wars have put tens of millions of children and their families in difficult situations.
UNICEF also emphasized, referring to the recent earthquake in Herat, that the majority of the victims of this event are children.
The organization added that children in Afghanistan are at the top of the list of vulnerable children worldwide and has called for $1.4 billion in aid to address their situation.
Furthermore, according to UNICEF, Afghanistan is the most expensive project of this organization for the upcoming year.
It is worth mentioning that children in Congo and Sudan are facing more humanitarian crises after Afghanistan.
Several international relief organizations have also reported an increase in the needs of the people in Afghanistan and a decrease in aid due to budget shortfalls.
This is while the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) requested three billion dollars to provide humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.
