In a recent Instagram post, the 36-year-old, who has presented The Latish Show since it landed on TV in 2019, revealed that the show had not been renewed for a fifth season, meaning the fourth season will be its last.
Season 4 of the Channel 4 series saw many celebrity guests, including Joel Dommett, Michael McIntyre, and Luke Evans, join Mo and engage in open conversation about various subjects.
The talk show audience and guests were also regularly treated to exclusive performances from top musicians.
Mo re-posted a picture of the glorious moment he received his Bafta award on his social media account, where he shared that it was the end of an era for the show, confirming that there will be no season five.
He penned: “After four incredible years, the Christmas episode of The Lateish Show, which transmits at 10pm on Wednesday 20th December, will be my last. I can’t even begin to describe how proud I am of this show.
“It genuinely changed my life and has created an industry-wide impact. It’s won numerous awards and achieved even more nominations, but it’s the army of people behind the scenes that made it happen who are so important.
“There are so many moments that I’ll always look back on with so much happiness. From that very first moment at Channel 4, where they took a chance on an ambitious young black creative who just couldn’t find a way into the industry.
“Most importantly, the viewers – those who have watched us, shared the clips, taken part and supported us for so long. It’s been a huge privilege to bring people into my world every Friday night and just have fun.”
The award-winning comedian summed up his emotional tribute to the show by disclosing that next year is going to be a ‘busy’ year for him.
He added that the show motivated him to keep ‘keep pushing’ so that the new generation of young creatives would reap the benefits of what he has sowed so that they can be granted more opportunities.
He finalised by giving the next “young Mo”, encouraging advice to never give up as The Lateish Show displayed that with hard work “everything is possible.”
Users of the app flooded Mo’s comments section with supportive comments, including comedian Eddi Kadi, who simply said: “Incredibleee”, followed by three fire emojis.
Judi Love added: “You are a true light in this game, and we truly appreciate you and all you’ve done and doing. This show was and will always be epic. @mothecomedian.”
One fan typed: “You are amazing and should be so proud of all you have achieved thus far. So much more to come. To infinity and beyond!”
Another added: “No way gunna miss it but can’t wait to see what you do next. Legend.”
A third reminisced on one of the episodes: “Noooo, it’s finishing. I will never forget the man who sung “Spice up your life” without knowing the words, and to this day, we still replay the episode. “Mennamee meeeh Woah oh oooh oh.”
A fourth followed: “Made history and such an inspiration to so many!”
The final episode of The Lateish Show will air on Channel 4 at 10pm on December 20.
