India is expected to see a surge in Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) deployments starting in 2024, according to Sanjay Bakaya, country head for India at US-based Mavenir. The Indian market is complex due to its large user base, high population density, and diverse conditions. Top telcos Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea have explored O-RAN-based networks, but have not yet started deployments due to a lack of a mature ecosystem.
