CT middle school student charged for allegedly hacking another student’s email to make bomb threat
A middle school student in Torrington was arrested for allegedly hacking another student’s email to send a bomb threat, police said.
The threat was sent Wednesday and indicated a student would be bringing a bomb to Torrington Middle School on Thursday, according to the Torrington Police Department.
Police said a lengthy investigation led to the discovery that a student hacked another student’s email account before sending out the threat. The student who police say was responsible was suspended and arrested.
Police noted that the threat was not found to be credible and was merely an attempt to get another student in trouble. Classes were expected to resume as normal on Thursday.
