“I’m hosting the Grammys,” announced Trevor Noah on his podcast “What Now?” “I’m excited about that. It’s a lot of fun. I enjoy the Grammys because I get to watch the show in person and then just experience and comment on it in person while it is happening.” Watch the clip of his announcement at the bottom of this post.
This isn’t the first time the comedian has emceed the annual music event. Far from it. This will be his fourth time in a row presenting the show. He took the reins in 2021 and 2022 for the ceremonies that had to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic, and then in 2023 the Grammys returned to the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. The awards will be back at that venue this time around too. They will air on CBS on February 4, 2024.
Noah isn’t only the host of the show. He’s also a nominee. He contends for Best Comedy Album for the second time for the recording of his special “I Wish You Would.” He previously contended in that category four years ago for “Son of Patricia.” To win, he’ll have to get past albums by Dave Chappelle, Wanda Sykes, Chris Rock and Sarah Silverman.
It’s going to be a busy few weeks for Noah as he’s also up for a Golden Globe in the newly created category for Best Stand-Up Comedy Performance on Television for his special “Where Was I.” There he’s up against his Grammy rivals Sykes, Silverman and Rock as well as Amy Schumer and Ricky Gervais. Those awards take place on January 7, 2024. On top of all that, he’s an Emmy nominee for his last season hosting “The Daily Show.” Those awards are scheduled for January 15, 2024, after being delayed for months due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Will he come out a winner at all three ceremonies?
