GOP officials fire off crude tweet in response to Democratic recruitment drive

The official X account of the Forsyth County Republican Party in North Carolina posted a crude meme Friday in response to the state Democratic Party chair soliciting candidates for a downballot election.

"DOES ANYONE KNOW SOMEONE IN LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA THAT WOULD BE WILLING TO PUT THEIR NAME ON THE BALLOT?!?!" wrote Anderson Clayton.

In response, the Forsyth County GOP account posted, "You might try Deez Nuts.".

The party's crude response to Clayton swiftly brought scorn.

"As usual all you guys have is insults. Keep it classy, Republicans," wrote one user.

"There’s no way this is the actual county gop right? Genuinely insufferable behavior," wrote another.

"Lol, trailer trash has entered the chat," yet another posted.

Forsyth County is a left-trending area in the Piedmont Triad that is home to the city of Winston-Salem. The Forsyth County GOP has been embarrassed before; its party's former chairman, Nathan Tabor, was arrested in 2021 for allegedly cyberstalking, stealing motor vehicle parts, and embezzling from his church.
