Postecoglou says ‘goalmouth monster’ is really impressing him in Spurs training
Ange Postecoglou saw his side overcome a plucky Nottingham Forest side tonight, and it was Richarlison who got himself on the scoresheet again to get things going for Spurs. Speaking after the game, the Tottenham manager revealed how pleased he is with the striker.
A 2-0 scoreline at the City Ground tonight arguably gives the impression that Spurs had it pretty comfortable against Nottingham Forest, but that wasn’t the case at all.
Steve Cooper’s side did not give Spurs a moment’s peace on the ball, and managed to restrict Ange Postecoglou’s men with a physical, high pressure approach.
The Lilywhites got their breakthrough on the stroke of half-time however, when Dejan Kulusevski whipped in an inch-perfect ball that found the head of Richarlison, who nodded home his third goal in two games and his fifth of the campaign (Transfermarkt).
In the second half, Forest got the ball in the back of the net, but the Tottenham offside trap did its job and the goal was chalked off. Five minutes later, Kulusevski pounced on a mistake by Forest keeper Matt Turner to convert and make it 2-0, putting the game beyond doubt.
Richarlison is a monster, says Postecoglou
Spurs fans will be happy with the three points, and just as happy to see Richarlison finally hitting some form in front of goal. Postecoglou is certainly pleased, as he commented on the Brazilian’s performance after the game.
He told Sky Sports (15/12/23 at 10:30 pm): “Richarlison is a goalmouth monster. I’m really pleased with him in training and I was confident that he could go out there and do a job for us.”

I am absolutely delighted for Richarlison tonight, and it’s great to see him oozing with confidence right now. We always knew that he would just need that little purple patch to get going, and I really hope this is a pivotal moment in his Spurs career from which he can push on.
