Sarfaraz Bugti steps down as interim Interior Minister of Pakistan
Pakistani media recently announced the resignation of Sarfaraz Bugti, the Minister of Interior in Pakistan’s interim government.
The Express Tribune reported on Saturday that the resignation of Sarfaraz Bugti, Pakistan’s interim Interior Minister, was accepted by Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Anwarul Haq Kakar.
The Express Tribune, citing sources, reported that Mr. Bugti had submitted his resignation on December 13th.
However, reports suggest that Bugti’s decision to step down was influenced by his desire to actively participate in the upcoming general elections scheduled for February 8th.
This move occurred just before the Pakistan Election Commission announced the exact dates for the country’s elections, following an order from the Supreme Court.
Sarfaraz Bugti was a member of the Balochistan Awami Party in Pakistan and later joined the Pakistan Muslim League but has not yet commented on rejoining this party for the upcoming elections.
There has been no further comment from Bugti regarding his future political plans or re-affiliation with the Pakistan Muslim League in the forthcoming elections.
