Report reveals major Conor Gallagher update amidst Tottenham’s interest

90 min have claimed that Conor Gallagher would prefer to stay put at Chelsea in January but the midfielder could be sold against his wishes.

Tottenham got a major boost earlier this week when The Daily Mail reported that Chelsea had done a U-turn on Gallagher’s future and decided to put him up for sale.

The outlet asserted that there are no signs of any progress in talks over a new deal for the 23-year-old, with the Blues now ready to listen to offers for their academy graduate.

This was also backed up by talkSPORT, who claimed a couple of days ago that Chelsea are expected to cash in on the midfielder and use the funds to sign a new striker.

The report stated that Spurs are ready to pounce on the England international as soon as he is put on the shop window.

Gallagher wants to stay at Chelsea amid Spurs links

According to 90 min, Gallagher’s preference would be to remain at his boyhood club and sign a new contract.

It is explained that Mauricio Pochettino is a huge fan of the midfielder and wants to keep him at Stamford Bridge.

However, the West London club are said to be no closer to reaching an agreement with Gallagher over a new contract, with a January sale said to be very much on the cards.

I have no doubt that Tottenham will test Chelsea’s resolve with an offer or two for Gallagher if he does not sign a new contract before the transfer window opens.  

While Pochettino seems to value the 23-year-old, the Argentine is not in a particularly powerful position at the moment, given the West London club’s recent results, and thus, might not be able to make big transfer demands.
