I went on a first date with a guy and his mom – that wasn’t the bad part, it just got worse and I felt icky all night
A FIRST date has gone sour according to one woman who revealed that it just kept getting worse as the night progressed.
She said he brought his mother along, which wasn’t even the worst part.
Redditor Decembertruths, 26, recounted the blunder in a post on the social media platform.
She said that after speaking to a 28-year-old man for a few months, they decided to meet up.
“I have known him for a couple of months, but we haven’t started ‘talking’ until recently,” she said.
“Last week he asked me if I wanted to go to a hockey game with him and his mom and it actually sounded fun to me.
“I have never been to a hockey game and I didn’t really mind that his mom was going because he had those plans with her first anyways and invited me to tag along,” she added.
She said she drove two hours to get to his house and made plans to stay the night so she wouldn’t have to make the trek back after the game.
By the time she arrived, the seating arrangement was not what she expected and her date had her sitting with strangers.
“I assumed that when he invited me to a hockey game with him and his mom that we would be sitting together, but I assumed that wrong,” she said.
“After I arrived, he said that his friend and his friends girlfriend were coming too.
“He said he had a set of two seats together and a set of three seats together.
“The two seats were a little closer to the court, so he said he wanted his mom to sit with him in the two seats first and that I would sit with his friend and friend’s girlfriend in the three seats,” she added.
Later into the night she got a text from her mother saying that her dog was sick. Being an animal lover, she decided to tell her date that she needed to go home immediately.
“He immediately seemed annoyed, saying it’s ‘just a dog’ and that ‘the dog will be fine’ and ‘you better stay the night with me,'” she said.
She added that his reaction didn’t sit well with her.
“I immediately felt icky with that response,” she said, taking an Uber back to his house and making plants to get in her car and go home.
“He started arguing with me about me wanting to leave to take care of my dog.
“He raised his voice at me as well, saying: ‘If your dog is that important then just go. Get out. You’re wasting time just sitting here.’
“He also said: ‘You could at least give me a back rub before you leave,'” she added.
She eventually went home, with other Redditors supporting her decision, one wrote: “I’m sure mommy took care of him.”
