Report: West Ham are hopeful of beating Tottenham to prolific striker
TEAMtalk have revealed that West Ham United are hopeful of winning the race for Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy, who has been mooted as a target for Tottenham.
Guirassy had an impressive first season in Stuttgart last term but the centre-forward has hit new heights this season, with few strikers in Europe being able to match his goal return.
The 27-year-old has scored 18 goals in 14 matches across all competitions so far and he has unsurprisingly emerged as a target for several top sides, including Spurs.
Dean Jones was the latest to reveal on Ranks FC podcast a few weeks ago that Tottenham are monitoring the Guinea international forward, with the journalist confirming that the striker has a release clause of €17.5m (£15m) on his contract.
Guirassy is also thought to be on the radar of Manchester United The Guardian’s Ed Aarons) and AC Milan (Sky Sport Italia).
West Ham hoping to win race for Serhou Guirassy
TEAMtalk have now said that the Hammers are ready to beat other suitors to the punch, with the East London club hopeful of completing a deal for Guirassy.
It is explained that David Moyes is keen on adding a number nine to his squad and has identified the Stuttgart star as his top target.
The report adds the former Rennes man is keen to play in the Premier League and there is ‘zero expectation’ at Bundesliga side that he will stay beyond January.
Spurs Web Opinion
Despite all the centre-forwards who have been linked with Tottenham over the last month, I remain unconvinced that we are in the market for a number nine. I believe Postecoglou would prefer a versatile attacker, who is adept at playing out wide rather than a traditional striker.
