Drive-by shooting in Sun Valley kills woman, injures man
A woman was killed and a man was injured in a drive-by shooting in Sun Valley Saturday morning, Dec. 16, authorities said.
Los Angeles police detectives believe the victims were walking to their car on Lorne Street, west of Vineland Avenue and near the Sun Valley Recreation Center, when multiple men in a dark-colored four door sedan drove up and one of them opened fire about 1:20 a.m., police said.
Officers arrived and found both victims with gunshot wounds, police said. Both were taken by paramedics to a hospital where the woman died and the man underwent surgery.
Police said the man was expected to survive.
Further information about the victims was not disclosed. The woman was not identified by police pending notification of her relatives.
Whether the shooting was gang-related was not yet known, spokesman Officer Drake Madison said.
