‘Mind blown’, pasta lovers gush after mum shares hack to stop water from boiling over
PASTA lovers were “mind blown” after discovering this fool-proof hack to stop water in the pan boiling over.
It can be horrible after scrubbing your cooker until it’s sparkling to see it destroyed in two seconds while cooking a delicious meal.
To avoid the annoying extra clean up job after preparing pasta – or any dishes that require boiling water in a pan – one mum has come to the rescue.
The savvy cook shared her advice on TikTok and revealed the nifty hack only requires one item – and it’s free.
In the short clip, posted by @.kaylamae, she shows a pan about to overflow with frothy white water.
To save her induction stove tops, the mum simply drops an ice cube into the bubble and within a second they go down dramatically.
People who witnessed the trick in videos across social media flooded the comment sections with surprise.
An impressed pasta lover penned: “That’s a cool hack! Great video.”
“Mind blown. I didn’t believe it, so I had to try it myself,” wrote another.
“Oh wow I’m gonna use this because Almost every time I have an overspill. Thank you,” agreed a second.
Another commented: “I pour a bit of cold water in when it’s ready to boil over.”
Meanwhile someone else suggested: “You can also lay a wooden spoon across the top of the pot and it won’t boil over.”
And, this was backed-up by another viewer who wrote: “I taught my mom of 74 years that if you put the wooden spoon in the boiling water, the water will never boil over. She was astonished.”
Oil and salt where also suggestions to bring prevent water from overflowing.
It comes as an influencer tried a second popular hack for preventing pans from boiling over.
The TikToker showed his followers the pasta pot, which looked set to boil over any minute.
He told viewers: “This pot looks like it’s going to boil over, let’s put some oil on there.”
The content creator dabbed cooking oil onto a piece of kitchen roll and wiped the inside of the pot rim.
“What? No way, it works?” he said as he filmed the pot of boiling water.
Meanwhile, other cooking hacks include a quick way to peel potatoes – without needing to use a peeler or a knife.
