Baby born three months early at just 1lb 5oz makes it home for Christmas

A BABY born three months early at just 1lb 5oz is thriving — after  making it home for Christmas.

Little Hallie Newrick’s parents told of their joy as she cosied up under their festive tree.  

Mum Lucy Bodenham, 27,  said: “Having Hallie home is our best Christmas present ever. We just can’t believe she’s here.” 

We told of the brave tot’s survival battle after she was born at 28 weeks in August. 

Weeks earlier Lucy had been told of a problem with blood flow to the placenta.

She was admitted to hospital and gave birth by Caesarean section.

After a quick cuddle with her mum and dad Marc, 31 — both computing lecturers —  Hallie was transferred to the neonatal intensive care unit at the city’s Royal Hospital for Children. 

She suffered problems with her bowels and breathing but came on in leaps and bounds.

And earlier this month she was allowed home to Annan weighing 5lbs 13oz. 

Lucy said: “It’s so nice to be in our own surroundings. All the family are excited to come round over the festive period to see her.”
